Under the general direction of the Director, Student Development & Career Programming, the incumbent is responsible for the implementation and facilitation of preparatory programming for PEY Co-op students. The incumbent will support and advise students to develop key competencies and skills that will support their success in the recruitment process and the workplace.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

• Advising students on job search, industry research and networking strategies including cover letter, resume and interview preparation.
• Advising and coaching students on work search strategies and skills, interview skills and/or performance, developing career-related goals.
• Facilitating educational workshops and seminars.
• Advising students on career-related matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background.
• Keeping well-informed on the various psychological, personal and informational factors involved in comprehensive career development approaches.
• Liaising with students and faculty to coordinate program activities.
• Keeping well-informed on labour market, occupational and educational trends.
• Analyzing statistical information to evaluate the performance of programs and/or partnerships.

 

Essential Qualifications:

 

• Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
• Minimum three years recent and relevant experience facilitating and presenting workshops.
• Experience coaching and advising individuals on employment or career development strategies.
• Experience in career services and/or campus recruiting.
• Experience in coaching individuals on resume writing and interview techniques.
• Ability to utilize technology, including social media, as an education tool.
• Demonstrated excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills.
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple and competing tasks and deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to apply good judgement, confidentiality, initiative, tact and discretion.
• Proven ability to demonstrate excellent attention to detail and high accuracy.
• Superior customer service and interpersonal skills with a service orientation towards students, staff and the public and the proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectful and collegial learning and working environment.

Assets (Nonessential):

 

• Experience working with post-secondary students in a university environment.
• Experience or knowledge with engineering job markets.
