The CFREB reviews ethics applications for all non-health research projects involving humans. The board receives more than 450 applications annually, from researchers in a wide range of disciplines, including social work, education, psychology, business, computer science, and law.
The CFREB meets every month and is made up of more than 20 members, including the chair. CFREB members are UCalgary faculty and community members.
The chair must be a tenured professor and will be responsible for leading board meetings, directing discussions, facilitating decision-making, and voting on research proposals. Applicants will have sufficient knowledge and understanding of human participant research and research ethics issues, and previous experience participating on a research ethics board.
