Université Laval, the first French-language higher-education institution in the Americas, and the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine of its Faculty of Medicine are seeking a tenure-track professor in occupational health and human toxicology. The selected candidate will have a strong background in training and expertise (teaching-research) closely related to public health / community health / population health. This position leads to tenure.

Job Description

The selected candidate will hold a full-time, 100% tenure-track professorship in the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine of the Faculty of Medicine. He or she will be expected to demonstrate strong leadership in teaching occupational health and human toxicology in undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs for which the Faculty of Medicine is responsible--specifically the specialized graduate diploma (DESS) in occupational health and safety, and the joint faculty master’s and doctoral programs in public and community health related to occupational health and human toxicology.

He or she will also be active in the development and execution of funded research projects in community health / public health / population health, and contribute to strengthening expertise in occupational health or human toxicology within the Faculty and in collaboration with other faculties. Duties also include supervising or co-supervising graduate students and postdoctoral fellows, as well as participating in faculty, university, and professional activities relevant to the position.

Eligible candidates must:

Hold a Ph.D. relevant to occupational health and human toxicology;

Demonstrate strong skills in university-level teaching and supervision of graduate students; Demonstrate strong ability to conduct research activities in occupational health or human toxicology, addressing related issues, and to publish findings in peer-reviewed scientific journals; Demonstrate strong collegiality and interdisciplinary collaboration skills; Be able to integrate new information and communication technologies into their teaching; As Université Laval is a French-language institution, the selected candidate must be able to teach in French or commit to being able to do so within three (3) years.
