Some concepts will be built upon already learned in R, such as data structures, in Python. The focus will be on data science basics. The course will also introduce more advanced concepts such as tools for supervised/ unsupervised learning that will be helpful for deep learning focused courses. However, if this changes for any reason, you will be provided with as much advance notice as practicable.] Sessional dates of appointment: May 19, 2026 to August 31, 2026 Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $17,930.13 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $18,274.94 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer II - $18,274.94 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $18,274.94 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE) Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications: A PhD in computer science is required. Experiencing teaching Python is essential. Teaching experience includes teaching assistant or sessional lecturer at an accredited university. Private sector experience where the position has been a data scientist. Experience with therapeutic data is needed in a private sector setting. Experience using statistics to make inferences about online behaviour regarding product purchases and shopping behaviour. Preferred qualifications: Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12. Description of duties: All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings.
