Course description:

 

This course is designed to enable students to gain a more in-depth appreciation and understanding of the application of materials science and protein chemistry to the field of biotechnology. We delve into advanced drug delivery and therapeutic strategies, biomaterials in medicine, pharmacology and drug discovery. We also consider new disruptive technologies as case studies for life science biotechnology students.

Sessional dates of appointment: May 1st, 2026, to August 31st, 2026

 

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I - $18,768 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $$19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

 

 




Minimum qualifications:

Relevant recent research experience (MSc or Ph.D. level) and understanding of advanced molecular and cell biology, structural biology, and pharmacology. Knowledge of high-throughput screening methodologies and early implementation in the industry is also advantageous.

 

 

Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

Description of duties:

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings.
