Course description:

 

This course introduces students to the fundamental and foundational skills and concepts needed to become effective members of an organization. It focuses on teamwork skills, understanding interpersonal differences, intercultural skills, decision-making and conflict. The course is designed for career readiness rather than for longer-term leadership roles.

 

It provides the initial opportunity for a team-based problem-solving approach and a realistic preview of the workplace. The course is experiential, and much of the learning occurs through doing in class and out of class. It requires active participation by the students and skilled facilitation by the instructor.

Sessional dates of appointment: May 19, 2026 to December 31, 2026

 

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I - $18,768 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer I Long Term - $19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II - $$19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer II Long Term - $19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Sessional Lecturer III - $19,129 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

 

 




Minimum qualifications:

 

Graduate level education evidenced by a BSc/MSc or BCOM/MBA educational (or equivalent) background. Extensive experience in the facilitation of management development courses, with a particular emphasis on intercultural fluency. The candidate should have an established track record of course design and implementation across various learners. Experience in teaching related content at Master’s degree level courses required.

 

Preferred qualifications:

Demonstrated excellence in teaching this course, or a similar course at the university level, is preferred.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II and Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12.

Description of duties:

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; out-of-class interactions with students via e-mail and office hours; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; calculation and submission of grades; order all necessary readings.
