Under the general direction of the Director, Digital Workforce & Analytics, the Manager, Reporting & Insights serves as a critical lead responsible for steering the People Strategy, Equity & Culture (PSEC) People Analytics team in the end-to-end development, delivery, and optimization of high-impact reporting and advanced workforce insights. This role acts as a strategic partner to University leadership, providing the data-driven evidence required to support complex decision-making across the institution, including sensitive labour and faculty relations activities such as collective bargaining costing, grievance trend analytics, and the fulfillment of all mandatory provincial and federal legislated reporting requirements.

This position requires a sophisticated balance of high-level strategic oversight and granular technical execution; the incumbent manages institutional-scale data governance and the lifecycle of major survey operations while remaining deeply engaged in hands-on technical tasks. These duties include the architecting of complex HRIS reports, the interpretation of multi-layered datasets to identify emerging workforce trends, and the design of interactive, actionable dashboards that translate raw data into clear narratives for internal stakeholders and divisional leaders. The Manager ensures the integrity, scalability, and accessibility of people data to foster a culture of evidence-based HR management across the University’s diverse academic and administrative landscape.

 

Qualifications Required:

 

I. EDUCATION:

University degree in Business, Data Analytics, Human Resources or related field required.

II. EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 (five) years’ experience related to HR, or data analytics, reporting, and business intelligence within a complex organizational environment required. Minimum three (3) years of experience managing and motivating staff. Working knowledge of University policies and procedures as they relate to human resources, finance and payroll. Experience with usability and web design principles, including user focus groups and user needs assessments. Demonstrated ability to interpret legislation, collective agreement and employment policies in order to ensure HR system compliance. Experience of working in a unionized environment.

III. SKILLS:

Strong knowledge of data warehouse architecture, BI tools, and predictive analytics methodologies. Advanced use of Microsoft Office, spreadsheet, and databases.
Knowledge of SAP HCM (HRIS), SAP Employee Central, SuccessFactors, Spinifex and other HR systems and software. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

IV. OTHER:

Excellent communication skills in order to effectively interact with both technical and non-technical users (written and oral) with strong analytical and problem-solving ability; strong presentation skills with demonstrated ability to conduct training sessions and instruct others; excellent organizational skills; write clear, concise procedural and technical documentation; Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to deal with multiple demands and to allocate time and priorities efficiently and effectively.
