General Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join Equine Guelph as an Education Programs Officer. This position plays a key role in the development, coordination, and delivery of evidence-based education and outreach programs for the equine industry in Canada. Reporting to the Director of Equine Guelph, the successful candidate will contribute to curriculum development, industry engagement, and the delivery of programs that support equine health, nutrition, welfare, and safety. This position will support Equine Guelph’s national education mandate, including online learning through TheHorsePortal and in-person outreach through programs such as EquiMania!

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver education and outreach programs for adult and youth audiences
  • Research, design, and update online courses and educational content for TheHorsePortal
  • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to evidence-based content in equine nutrition, health, welfare, and safety
  • Support curriculum development and knowledge translation activities, including fact sheets, interviews, and outreach materials
  • Collaborate with Equine Guelph staff, sponsors, and industry partners to ensure educational materials are accurate and current
  • Upload, format, and maintain content within online learning platform
  • Support communication and outreach activities, including preparation of content for social media and other channels
  • Assist with higher-level information and research inquiries related to equine education and nutrition
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of revenue-generating education and outreach initiatives
  • Support the EquiMania! youth and family education program, including coordination of exhibits and events
  • Coordinate logistics for outreach activities, including scheduling, event setup and takedown, and on-site supervision
  • Work occasional evenings, weekends, and travel as required by program needs


 

Requirements

  • Postgraduate degree in equine nutrition or a related equine health or welfare field
  • 3-6 years experience, with 4 years of experience in graduate programming. Minimum of 2 years of experience in the equine industry, or an equivalent combination of industry and research experience
  • Experience developing educational content and delivering education programs to adult and youth audiences
  • Strong research, writing, and communication skills, with the ability to translate scientific information for diverse audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and exercise sound judgment
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills
  • Education or training in education or pedagogy is considered an asset
