Position Summary Working largely independently as part of the senior management team, and under the general direction of the Assistant Director, Hospitality Operations, the incumbent is responsible for the provision of parking services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of operations at the UTM campus. Responsible for guiding, supporting and providing direction for all parking and transportation operations, financial management, budgeting, procurement, facilities, maintenance, contracts and programs. The Operations Manager is responsible for planning, maintaining and improving parking and transportation facilities as the campus grows. Responsible for hiring, orientation, and management of all full-time staff and all casual and temporary staff supporting these operations. Responds to community needs and customer concerns, human resources and supports long-term strategic planning. Minimum Qualifications Required EDUCATION Post secondary education required; university degree preferred. Education in business management, planning, transportation or a related field or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience. Obtained MLEO certification from the City of Mississauga is an asset. EXPERIENCE Three to five years considerable experience in the field of parking and transportation administration, preferably within a university/college community. Experience advising senior administration and various other managers. Knowledge of the University an asset. Experience and demonstrated expertise with parking and transportation equipment and computer software used to administer and manage programs and functions. Experience managing staff in a unionized environment. Experience managing contracts an asset. Experience developing budgets an asset. SKILLS Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced customer service environment. Ability to work in stressful situations and meet deadlines. Multitasking skills mandatory. Strong communications skills and knowledge of parking management required. Tact, sensitivity and diplomacy. Must possess the ability to both give direction to staff and take direction from senior management. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite. Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong conflict resolution skills. Knowledge of parking software (i.e. AIMS, LPR, pay-by-plate) and signage software. OTHER Ability to manage conflicting and competing priorities and deadlines. Ability to provide excellent customer service in a sensitive environment. Ability to work both independently and with teams. Knowledge of FIPPA and of confidential document and information management. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong client relationships, and a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service and continuous improvement for parking and transportation, in a complex and changing higher education environment. Must be in possession of a Provincial Class "G" driver’s license in good standing.
