Your opportunity: The Financial Aid & Awards Advisor serves as a resource and advises undergraduate students at University College (UC) in the area of financial and awards matters. The incumbent advises students on government loan and grant programs (e.g. OSAP), the University of Toronto Advanced Planning for Students program (UTAPS), University College grants, scholarships, awards, and general budgeting and financial planning. Primary responsibilities include: one-on-one student financial aid and awards advising; reviewing, following up on, and processing grant applications from students, serving as resource on a variety of financial aid programs (e.g. grants, OSAP, UTAPS, high needs grants, government sponsorship programs, other community/government resources, etc.), student financial appeals, and proactive identification and specialized advising to support eligible students for internal and external awards. The incumbent also supports the administration of all scholarship and award programs at the College. Primary responsibilities include: maintaining up to date scholarship/awards inventories, contributing to the strategic planning for new awards at the College, assisting the Registrar with the administration and disbursement of college scholarships and awards, maintaining, monitoring, and reconciling award account activities on the Financial Information System (FIS), verifying completeness of the intake and preliminary review of student award applications and making recommendations to the Registrar, preparing and distributing all student award letters, preparing financial reports for the Registrar and other stakeholders at the College, and assisting with the planning, delivery, and assessment of annual award ceremonies. The incumbent also assists with the provision of front line and academic advising services in the University College Registrar’s Office. Your responsibilities will include:
